So we decided to go to California for Jaxon's golden birthday! We went the first of November - his bday is on the 12th. It was a long but great vacation. I decided to post the pictures in sections because I still don't know how to do a lot at a time. :) So, this first set is of our first day there, which was Sunday. We started and ended the vacation with church. I thought it was a wonderful way to go. This first picture is of Jaxon with his pressed penny. A couple years ago I started to collect pressed pennies because the kids love it and it is relatively cheap. They each go to choose one. This is Jaxi's. I can't remember where Jaxon is in this picture, we were admiring the flamingos - except they really stink. Jainie, you will notice, pretty much poses for every picture, unless she is tired. It is a great cue to her attitude.
We decided to feed the seals - Jake is holding the fish tightly in the next picture (they are backwards). They told us to hold them tight because the seagulls will try to swoop down and steal them. And, guess what? Josie was getting ready to throw hers to a sea lion when the blur you see here swooped out of the sky and stole her fish. It was scary! We barely knew what happened. She felt the wing on her hand & was a little upset afterward. One lady was bleeding because the bird pecked her hand. Crazy birds - cool picture!
This is the church we went to in San Diego. It was very interesting. They were filming throughout the entire sacrament meeting. We couldn't figure out what was going on, but Jared asked someone afterward. They told him there is a new film being made for the new missionaries at the MTC - so if you know anyone who is going next year"ish" tell them to watch for us in the movie!
