California Vacation - San Diego Zoo & Temple

Today we went to the zoo. This was actually Jainie's special day because we owed her a trip to the zoo. We told her when she was getting potty=trained that if she would cooperate, we would take her to the zoo. Ironically, she had her first and only "accident" at the zoo. Right before we left, oops, Jainie needed to go too badly and you know what happens!

You can see us on the far left. Usually at this point, we are already trying to find a bathroom. No one wants to go on anyone else's schedule so we took about 20+ bathroom breaks a day.

Aren't they beautiful birds?

Josie decided she wanted to see a camel, so we took her picture with one. I am pretty sure we saw every animal alive. (Well, that might be an exaggeration.)

Josie & Joshua (and to an extent Jaxon) loved learning about the animals this time. It was tricky to keep Jake and Jainie interested while the other 3 and dad would read the signs and learn a little more.

Jainie loved the elephants and wanted to have a pic with them. They were really cool. It was really a great zoo. Jaxon had to wear his headgear because he would take it off at night. Needless to say, he was not too happy about it.

They had great animals to play and jump on. This was one of those remarkable moments where they all were getting along!

Jake was pretty excited he balanced on this elephant's tusks. They had a brand new area for the elephants, it was huge!

This was the funniest polar bear- he had a ball that he would bounce and play with but then got it wedged between two rocks. He tried for at least a 1/2 hour to get that ball out. It was a great lesson in persistence & determination. However, we couldn't stay to see it play out, we had to leave before he recovered it, but I am sure he finally did get it! :)

MMMM - magnificent!

We had a great day at the zoo, however, we were exhausted afterward. We did stay until it was about dark, but Jared & I were too tired to take too many pics. It was the hilliest zoo I have been too and our double stroller was pretty heavy. We all slept well at least.

  1. Looks like tons of fun! I'm jealous. And would you look at that? Twelve pictures in one post. There's no holding you back, now!

  2. True Oldroyd/Thalman children- stopping to read all the signs. After dating multiple boys I've realized that all families don't actually do this. Weird.... I'm glad you're training them up so well. ;)

  3. How was the reaction in the park of the headgear?
